Shoretel Communicator is desktop software used for controlling Shoretel IP phones. You can get the installer from http:///ShoreWareResources/ClientInstall/ or http:///shorewaredirector/clientinstall. It is known not to install if Copernic Desktop Search or Microsoft Outlook are running so you will need to add lines below to close these.

We have tested the softphone feature over VPN and found it works ok as long as your connection has sufficient bandwidth both up and down. The one user who had problems was on a DSL, with only 1MB for upload speed, which we perceived as the likely issue since the same user and laptop computer can use the softphone on site with no problem. We didn't pursue it further, but it would be great to know if the softphone has a minimum specification for network connectivity. I haven't been able to find that information.
